A contractor is sandblasting and repainting the water tower in Yelvington.
The 300,000 gallon elevated tank is one of seven for the East Daviess County Water Association, serving around 2,000 customers. General Manager Kasey Emmick says the previous paint job was 18 years old.
The contractor is using a large containment tarp resembling an umbrella to contain the dust. Upon completion, the water tower will be painted white with EDCWA on the side.
