Renovation Complete at Daviess County Operations Center

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) will open a permanent Regional Driver Licensing Office to administer REAL ID-compliant credentials.

The office will be located at the Daviess County Operations Center on Highway 81 in Owensboro.

Judge-Executive Al Mattingly expects the facility to open in mid-January.  Watch the video below for a virtual tour.

What is REAL ID?

The REAL ID Act established minimum security standards for license issuance and production.

Beginning October 1, 2021, a REAL ID credential will be required to board domestic flights, enter military bases and other secure federal facilities.

Although there will be travel and access restrictions on the enforcement date, REAL ID cards are optional and Kentuckians do not have to obtain one before the deadline.

Other federally approved documents, like a valid passport or military ID, are accepted for air travel.

KYTC Temporary Office

The permanent Regional Driver Licensing Office will open in mid-January. However, the Transportation Cabinet continues to process applications at a temporary location: 121 East 2nd Street, Suite 219, Owensboro, KY.

Appointments are strongly recommended.  Click here to schedule or call 270-691-9659.
