Judge/Executive Charlie Castlen has proclaimed Saturday, May 11 as Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive Day in Daviess County.
Annually, on the second Saturday in May, the US Postal Service letter carriers collect non-perishable food items as part of the nation’s largest, one-day food drive.
Since 1991, this nationwide drive has distributed more than a billion pounds of non-perishable food items to local food banks.
Participating in Stamp Out Hunger is just one example of how the USPS letter carriers work to make a difference in the lives of those they serve. Accordingly, it is only right to recognize them for their hard work, dedication, and commitment.
On Saturday, May 11, all Daviess County residents are encouraged to participate by placing non-perishable food items at the foot of their mailbox prior to the arrival of their letter carriers.
