Parks Department Accepting Shelter Reservations

Daviess County Parks & Recreation is accepting shelter reservations for the 2021 season.

“We have plenty of shelters available for a lot of different events at both Panther Creek and Yellow Creek Park,” explained Parks Director Ross Leigh.  “In past years, we have taken about 850 or so reservations per season.  We estimate we serve between 30,000 and 35,000 people.”

Leigh said past events have ranged from family picnics and birthday parties to wedding rehearsals and high school class reunions.

“Looking for an affordable, outdoor space?  We’ve got a shelter for you, somewhere in our park system,” he added.

Shelters are available to book at 50 percent capacity, between May 1st and October 31st.

“Typically, at the time you make the reservation is the time we take the payment to secure the reservation,” Leigh explained.  “The week before, you will come by our office at 221 Allen Street to pick up the key and pay the deposit.”

To reserve your space, call the Parks office at 270-685-6142.
