The 16.6-acre expansion of the Contained Landfill opened on August 31, 2023.
Already, the Solid Waste Department has accepted approximately 62,000 tons of garbage. The current cell will be utilized for the next five years, with the surrounding permitted area lasting for about 25 years total if it is fully built out.
Over 300 unique entities deposit waste at the Daviess County Landfill. Commissioner Chris Castlen is the liaison for the Solid Waste Department and provides this update.
