The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet released the following statement regarding the Owensboro Outer Loop Feasibility Study. A more detailed report will be made available in the fall.
(July 22, 2021) – The project team consisting of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC), Owensboro Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), and the consultant met on July 20, 2021 to review the input received during the public comment period that closed on July 2, 2021.
The response from this project was considerable, with 2,439 surveys completed, numerous Facebook and Twitter comments, and several emails received – all of which have been considered by the project team.
The project team concluded that based on the current conditions, traffic projections, engineering analysis, and public feedback – an outer loop connection is not feasible at this time.
