Since 1994, the Grimes Avenue Transfer Station has been the primary destination for solid waste in the City of Owensboro.
It’s the first stop for garbage that has been collected from the curb, before the waste is trucked to the Landfill for final disposal.
Daviess County Fiscal Court is planning several large improvements in the coming year, headlined by a new Convenience Center. The Transfer Station will also receive a new tipping floor and inbound scales.
Supervisor Brian Lanham and Judge/Executive Charlie Castlen provide an update on the plans.
Remember that the Transfer Station will stop accepting CD&D loads larger than a pickup truck. Starting on July 3, this material should go directly to the Landfill if hauled on a trailer, dump truck, or roll-off.
