Thousands of American flags will be retired in a ceremony at Panther Creek Park.
The Owensboro-Daviess County Veterans Organization coordinates the event each year on Flag Day – June 14. Unserviceable flags are destroyed in a burning ceremony.
Flags may be dropped off at any of the veteran service organizations in Owensboro, or taken to the disposal box at the Courthouse. The ceremony will begin around 4:30 p.m. on Friday at the south entrance of Panther Creek Park.
