The Daviess County Fire Department is testing sonar equipment on the Ohio River, as part of a training exercise.
Every year, firefighters respond to dozens of calls from stranded boaters. They also assist with rescue and recovery operations, such as retrieving a submerged vehicle.
The Owensboro Fire Department has a similar rescue boat, and both agencies receive support from the dive team with the Henderson Fire Department.
