Beef cattle remain an important commodity in Western Kentucky.
A Certified Pre-Conditioned for Health (CPH) Sale is conducted four times a year at the Kentuckiana Livestock Market on Highway 81, south of Owensboro.
The Daviess County Cooperative Extension Service helps to coordinate this event with support from the local livestock facility and a committee of farmers. The cattle are also graded by the Kentucky Department of Agriculture.
Clint Hardy, Extension Agent for Agriculture, explains how the CPH Sale is beneficial for smaller producers. Nearly 1,000 cattle are typically included in the largest sale event in December.
