Contained Landfill Expansion Nearing Completion

The 16.6-acre expansion of the Contained Landfill is nearing completion.

It’s one of the final projects for Robbie Hocker, the Solid Waste Manager who is retiring after a 27-year career with the county.

Hocker describes the process of the cell construction, beginning with the earthwork that started two years ago.

Watch as the contained landfill, literally, takes shape from the layer of compacted clay to the leachate collection system and the installation of a 60-mil plastic liner to protect the environment.

At this point, the Solid Waste Department is spreading a foot of river gravel over the entire site prior to the final state inspection.
