The Daviess County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) is accepting sign-ups for Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training that starts April 14, 2022 and runs for seven consecutive Thursday nights.
The training is free and upon completion the participant will receive a backpack stocked with safety equipment and medical supplies.
The training teaches residents how to take care of themselves and their neighbors in the event of a disaster before emergency responders can arrive. Training consists of disaster preparedness, utility shutoff, basic fire suppression, basic first aid, search and rescue, terrorism awareness, disaster psychology, team organization and a final drill exercising the skills learned.
