Governor Andy Beshear traveled to Daviess County on Thursday, October 5 to present grant awards, including nearly $400,000 for the Solid Waste Department.
The funding will support the composting operation at the Landfill with the addition of a front-end bucket loader. Additionally, Fiscal Court will add three new roll-off containers at the Grimes Avenue Transfer Station in Owensboro.
A final grant is allocated for the household hazardous waste collection, or “Tox Away Day” scheduled for Saturday, October 7.
Daviess County residents may dispose of batteries, oil-based paint, cleaning products, pesticides, fluorescent bulbs, antifreeze and other flammable liquids. The event will run from 8 a.m. to Noon at the Daviess County Operations Center.
