Shooting Range Closure Extended Due to River Flooding

The Mattingly Target Shooting Range will remain closed this week due to rising floodwater.

Formerly known as the Daviess County Gun Club, the Shooting Range is located on the north bank of Pup Creek at 7740 KY-2830 in Maceo, Kentucky.

Pup Creek is directly impacted when floodwater backs up from the Ohio River.

Parks maintenance employees have sandbagged the floodwall entrances, in order to protect the clubhouse.  Additionally, all of the equipment and contents were removed from the building.

Local rivers, streams and tributaries continue to flood from 8 to 12 inches of rain over the weekend.

A Flood Warning has been issued for the Ohio River with moderate flooding forecast.  The current stage at 10:30 a.m. Monday was 44.57 feet.  A crest of 46.9 feet is expected on Saturday at Owensboro.

The Ohio River will fall below flood stage on Wednesday, April 16.
