Improvements are planned for a major landmark in Knottsville.
The 750,000 gallon water tank on Highway 144 is being repainted. The East Daviess County Water Association will transition from blue to white on the tank exterior.
General Manager Kasey Emmick says the blue paint did not last as long in the elements. The white paint will have a 25-30 year lifespan. The Water Association will also add lighting to the tank for improved aesthetics at night.
This project is estimated to cost a little more than $500,000 with funding through the Cleaner Water Program. Emmick says the contractor will have 45 days to finish the job but he anticipates the work being completed much sooner.
A sandblasting containment tarp will prevent any debris from reaching neighboring yards. Contact the Water Association with any questions at 270-281-5187.
