The Department of Homeland Security has announced its intent to extend the REAL ID enforcement date by 24 months from May 3, 2023 to May 7, 2025.
Residents will have additional time to ensure their driver’s licenses and identification cards meet the security standards established by the REAL ID Act.
Once implemented, Kentuckians will need a form of federally accepted ID to visit certain federal buildings, military bases, or to fly commercially.
