The Ohio River Sweep, a program dedicated to cleaning trash from the riverbank, is set for June 17. Ohio River Sweep is a six-state event beginning in Pennsylvania and ending in Illinois.
Volunteers should gather at English Park about 8 a.m. The rain-or-shine event usually ends by 10 a.m. Gloves, water, trash bags and a T-shirt will be provided. Because Starbucks is a local sponsor, volunteers will receive a free cup of Starbucks coffee. Volunteers should wear close-toed shoes and wear clothes they don’t mind getting dirty. Bug spray and sunscreen are recommended.
