Masonville Fire Department will receive a $10,000 grant through the State Farm Good Neighbor Firefighter Safety Program.
The funding will be used to purchase new turnout gear to keep firefighters safe while serving the community.
Masonville is one of 100 volunteer fire departments nationwide to receive the grant. In collaboration with the National Volunteer Fire Council, State Farm has awarded $1 million to help local fire departments obtain needed equipment to increase safety.
“Our firefighters work hard to protect our community by helping their neighbors on their worst day,” said Chief Jeff Williams. “It is critical that we are able to provide these dedicated volunteers with the tools and resources they need to do their job safely and effectively. Thanks to this donation from State Farm and the National Volunteer Fire Council, we will be better equipped and prepared so we can respond at our best.”
Masonville Fire Department covers a large area in southeast Daviess County and a portion of Ohio County. Total coverage is approximately 75 square miles with around 700 calls for service each year.
