The Daviess County Clerk’s Office is experiencing unprecedented demand for services following the March 15 hail storm.
Current wait times are 60-90 minutes at the Courthouse. Please be patient as deputy clerks are working as quickly and efficiently as possible. Simple plate renewals may be completed online at https://drive.ky.gov/. McLean and Henderson counties have also offered to assist with hail damage title requests.
County Clerk Leslie McCarty reviews the list of requirements to obtain a hail damage title in Daviess County. First, replace the broken windshield on your vehicle, then proceed to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office for an inspection. Bring a hard copy of the letter from your insurance company, stating the car is a total loss due to hail damage. The official letter should contain the VIN number for the vehicle.
Additional requirements include the vehicle’s original title, a valid driver’s license and form of payment. The sheriff’s inspection fee is $15, while the clerk’s title fee is $11. For questions, contact the Motor Vehicle Department at (270) 685-8434 Extension 1.
