Daviess County Fiscal Court has approved a real estate purchase agreement for a 13-acre property in Maceo.
The land is adjacent to the Mattingly Target Shooting Range, formerly known as the Daviess County Gun Club.
County Treasurer Jordan Johnson said Fiscal Court has wanted to acquire the property for some time to afford options for the Shooting Range. The property runs alongside the main entrance off Kentucky Highway 2830.
About one-third of the acreage is located outside the floodplain. Commissioner Larry Conder, liaison to the parks department, noted the property needs substantial cleanup before it can be used.
The Mattingly Target Shooting Range is a 76-acre shotgun shooting sports complex, offering Trap, Skeet, and Sporting Clays with no membership required. The facility is scheduled to open for the season on February 28.
