White Flag criteria will be met from November 19-24, as wind chill values will lower nightly temperatures to between 28-32°F.
A White Flag event signals the opening of an overnight emergency shelter. Hours of operation will be 6 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Owensboro Transit System will provide free bus transportation. Please, inform the bus driver you are going to the White Flag shelter.
For transport on Saturday and Sunday, contact the Daniel Pitino Shelter at (270) 688-9000.
Overnight pet sheltering will be available on White Flag nights.
- Pets will be kept in a cage with blankets on the floor
- Cages are in an insulated garage with the heat set at 60 degrees
- Evening meal and water supplied
- Hours are 8PM to 5AM
- Pick-up (8PM) of pet will be at CrossRoads, St Benedict’s, or Daniel Pitino Shelter
- Return delivery (5AM) of pet will be back to point of pick-up
If owner is not there to pick up pet, it will be taken to Daviess County Animal Care & Control.

White Flag is coordinated by Daviess County Emergency Management Agency and the Homeless Coalition of Ohio Valley, with the support of Daviess County Fiscal Court, the City of Owensboro, and participating shelters within Daviess County.
