With Independence Day approaching, the Daviess County Fire Department is pushing safety regarding the use of fireworks.
Inspector/Investigator Keith Hurm provides an update from MAD Fireworks-Owensboro at the tent off KY-54 near Alvey Park Drive West.
- Remember to watch the weather and keep water handy.
- Be mindful of neighbors, including pets.
- Always use fireworks outdoors.
- No one under the age of 18 should handle fireworks without adult supervision.
- Don’t shoot off fireworks in the street or public right-of-way.
- If a firework does not deploy, it should be considered dead. Do not try to re-light!
- Abide by all local and county ordinances.
- Allow fireworks to cool before clean-up.
