The Daviess County Fire Department has acquired new Ice Commander Rescue Suits from Mustang Survival.
The rescue suits are completely waterproof with a watertight hood, integrated gloves, and attached boots. A zip-in buoyancy liner provides protection for first responders from icy cold water.
While it may be 100 degrees outside right now in late August, winter is coming. Engineer Quinton Pence says it’s important for firefighters to train with new equipment and prepare for a cold water response.
The department also received two boats that can be deployed alongside the Ice Commander Rescue Suit.
