Daviess County Solid Waste has released the final batch of compost for the year.
Approximately 450 yards will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The cost is $22 per cubic yard.
The Class I compost may be used for lawns and flower gardens. It is produced from leaves that are collected in the City of Owensboro and later combined with sludge from the Regional Water Resource Agency (RWRA).
The material is mixed with a compost turner and cooked for 30 days before it is screened and ready for use.
Call the Landfill with any questions at (270) 229-4484. Landfill hours are Monday – Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 7 a.m. to Noon.
