Starting on December 27, 2021, the cost for a U.S. passport book will increase by $20.
The State Department said the higher fee is necessary to provide better security for passport books, which are used for travel worldwide.
The new fee for an adult passport book will be $130, and a child passport book will cost $100. Applicants should plan for a $35 acceptance fee, payable to the Daviess County Clerk’s Office.
For an additional $10, the Clerk’s Office can provide a photo to send with the application.
While processing times have varied throughout the pandemic, passports are now being issued in eight to 11 weeks on a routine basis.
Travelers have the option to pay for expedited processing in five to seven weeks. For a list of application fees and required documents, please visit daviessky.org/passports.
