Playground Association

The Daviess County Playground Association, established in 1979, represents Eight playgrounds with sixteen ball diamonds throughout Daviess County, Kentucky. Based strictly on volunteer leadership and a consistent set of by-laws, the association is administered by the Parks Department. Through an annual lease for four of the eight playgrounds with the Daviess County Public Schools, the Parks Department is held responsible for providing a safe and sound summer recreation program. Ball programs include:

  • 4-6 Year Old Tee Ball (3-4 Year Old Tee Ball available in West County only)
  • 7-12 Year Old Baseball
  • 6-14 Year Old Fast Pitch Softball
  • 6-20 Year Old Slow Pitch Softball

Players register the first during the month of February. Registration fees are established by each playground and only with volunteer board approval. Playground sites include County Heights Elementary, Knottsville, Whitesville, Burns Elementary, Sorgho Elementary, Stanley, and Southern Oaks Elementary.

***Attention Parents/Players***

From Owensboro-Daviess County Cal Ripken Baseball, Daviess County Little League, and Daviess County Girls Softball Associations: On behalf of all playground and league Presidents across Daviess County, we want to update you all as to where we stand for the 2020 season (ALL DIVISIONS). We ARE planning to have a successful season, for every level at all playgrounds once we get the “all clear” notice from the parks department. (FOR NOW ALL PRACTICES AND GAMES ARE SUSPENDED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE AT ALL PLAYGROUNDS AND COUNTY PARKS). We can not guess when that time will be at this point, but were still very early in the calendar year and have plenty of time, even months if needed to get things going. Once this virus gets behind us we will all be ready to get outside and have a well deserved great season of ball.

As with everything else going on right now our playgrounds need your support to survive, both financially and you as volunteers. We all want the playgrounds to be there in the future for our kids and grandkids to enjoy. Timing of this virus hit our playgrounds at a very bad time, while we was taking in registration fees we were also sending out large payments such as league fees, insurance fees, making equipment purchases and just general improvements to our playgrounds and as we move forward we still have more money going out (even though were not playing yet) with utilities, lawn mowing, weed spraying etc. So stay positive and stay with us and we will get through this.

We will repost new information as it comes to us, so keep checking our websites.
