Daviess County Receives Recovery Ready Designation

The City of Owensboro and Daviess County have been designated as Recovery Ready Communities by the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Dr. RonSonlyn Clark joined Governor Andy Beshear for the announcement on Monday, September 16.  The Governor certified four counties, bringing the total to 18 statewide.

This certification program was established to provide a quality measure of substance use disorder (SUD) recovery efforts.  The designation highlights the city and county’s commitment to support access for addiction treatment and recovery resources, along with removing barriers to the workforce.

The Alliance for a Drug-Free Owensboro & Daviess County began the application process in late summer 2023.  Judge/Executive Charlie Castlen said the designation provides a blueprint for the Alliance and its partners to support long-term recovery and may result in additional grant awards.

The designation is the culmination of more than two decades of work addressing substance use disorder (SUD).  Daviess County Fiscal Court also presented a proclamation for Recovery Month.
