Contractor to Begin Cable Maintenance Project on Natcher Bridge

A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will begin a cable maintenance project on the William H. Natcher Bridge this week.

Drivers should expect lane restrictions at the Ohio River crossing for the next year.  Beginning on Monday, March 24, all traffic will be shifted to the northbound side of the bridge with one lane in each direction.

This lane configuration is anticipated to last for around six months, with both lanes shifting to the southbound side of the bridge in late summer or early fall.

The entire project is scheduled to be complete by March of 2026.

The William H. Natcher Bridge is a cable-stay structure that opened in 2002, linking eastern Daviess County in Kentucky to southern Spencer County in Indiana.

Around 8,400 vehicles cross the bridge daily on U.S. 231.
