Was your vehicle damaged in the March 15th hail storm in Daviess County? Are you planning to keep the car, even if it is totaled by the insurance company?

The Daviess County Clerk’s Office is providing a list of steps for updating the title to reflect HAIL DAMAGE.

  • You must fix the cracked or broken windshield first.
  • You must have a letter from your insurance company stating the vehicle is totaled due to hail damage.
  • The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office will inspect your vehicle.
  • Bring your title, letter from the insurance company, the inspection report, and your I.D. to the Auto Department.
  • The Clerk’s Office will update your title to reflect HAIL DAMAGE. A deputy clerk will stamp your new registration, and the insurance company will use this document to pay you.

The updated title fee is $11. Contact the Auto Department with any questions at (270) 685-8434 Ext. 1.
