Christmas at Panther Creek

One of the best and brightest holiday light displays will return to Panther Creek Park this week.

Launched in 2003, “Christmas at Panther Creek” consists of a 1.15-mile lighted driving tour with more than 50 displays and 700,000 lights.  From November 26th to January 2nd, the park is open nightly from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Admission is $5 per vehicle and supports five not-for-profit organizations in Daviess County.  The 2021 recipients include: Kentucky State Police Professional Association, Right to Life of Owensboro, St. Benedict’s Homeless Shelter, WKWC 90.3 FM – Kentucky Wesleyan College, and United Way of the Ohio Valley.

“Last year was an outstanding success in collecting $50,000 to support our local non-profits,” said Parks Director Ross Leigh.  “We look forward to another big year.  So many families have made ‘Christmas at Panther Creek’ part of their holiday celebrations.”

Panther Creek Park is located at 5160 Wayne Bridge Road, near Kentucky Highway 81 on the west side of Owensboro.  The lighted driving tour circles a six-acre lake with dozens of static displays, including a 20-ft. arch at the north end of the park.

Back by popular demand, the Indy the Eagle Holiday Scavenger Hunt will give visitors an extra challenge as they navigate the park.  Look for the ‘Indy the Eagle’ logo throughout the light display and mark the locations on the official map, available for download at www.1776bank.com/LittlePatriots.

Owensboro Health is sponsoring a Free Community Night on Thursday, December 9th.  On that evening, everyone is welcome to visit the park for FREE and view the light displays, thanks to Owensboro Health.
