Candidate Filing for 2022 Election Year

Candidate filing for the 2022 election year will run from November 3, 2021 to January 25, 2022 at 4 p.m.

To file, candidates will need to pay a $50 fee and submit two voter signatures of the same party from their district.  Or, if the candidate is pursuing a county-wide office, from the county.

Registration forms can be found at sos.ky.gov.  Choose ‘Elections’ from the top menu and then select ‘Candidate Filing Forms’ from the drop down box.  Follow the prompts.

No signatures can be placed on this form until November 3, 2021, and the signatures must be notarized.

“You can bring the two voters with you at the time of filing, and they can sign before me or my staff, and we can notarize all signatures at that time,” explained County Clerk Leslie McCarty.  “You will need to bring the voters with you to sign.”

The Statement of Spending Intent and Appointment of Campaign Treasurer can be found at kref.ky.gov.  Set up a Kentucky.gov account with a username and password.  Select Becoming a Candidate and follow the instructions to fill out the KREF 001 form.
