Judge-Executive Al Mattingly has appointed Barry Smith as the next Daviess County Sheriff, following the retirement of Keith Cain.
A swearing-in ceremony was held on Tuesday, November 30th at the Daviess County Courthouse. Smith has served 27 years with the sheriff’s office, including the last five as Chief Deputy.
Cain announced his retirement in October after more than four decades with the department.
