The staff at Daviess County Animal Care & Control continue to do amazing work in our community, often with little recognition.
At the Fiscal Court meeting on Tuesday, February 6, Commissioner Janie Marksberry shared some truly awe-inspiring statistics regarding performance and the large decline in euthanasia.
Sadly, in 2008, the shelter euthanized 54 percent of all dogs and 88 percent of all cats. In 2023, those rates dropped to just 7 percent of dogs and 20 percent of cats.
“This is an amazing turn-around and it is due to the hard work of our shelter staff and all our devoted volunteers,” Commissioner Marksberry said.
Daviess County Fiscal Court would like to publicly thank Director Ashley Thompson and County Veterinarian Dr. Julie Gray for their leadership. This shelter is blessed with an incredible staff and network of volunteers.
