The first Daviess County Animal Shelter was established in 1974 and was located on Ewing Road. It remained there until 1982, when a new shelter was constructed on Highway 54. The building was funded and named for Dr. Carl Henry. The shelter remained there until July 2004, when it was relocated to the Daviess County Operations Center at 2620 Highway 81 South.
