Daviess County Sheriffs Deputies, upon being
hired, are sent through a 16 week training academy located in Richmond,
KY, conducted by the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training.
After successfully completing this training, the deputy is required to
ride with a field training officer 12 to 12 weeks. All sworn personnel are then required to complete 40
hours of annual in service instruction per year. This training includes patrol techniques, criminal investigation, narcotics detection, juvenile procedure, courtroom testimony, and a host of additional topics relating to the law enforcement profession. The Department stresses the importance of a college education. Our deputies include 10 with Associate degrees, 7 with Bachelor degrees, and 2 with a Masters degree. The officers' academic pursuits are in keeping with our commitment in providing professional representation of the community we serve. Click
