The Patrol Division is responsible for providing
primary police service to the unincorporated townships within Daviess County
(including the incorporated community of Whitesville). Currently
there are 21 sworn officers assigned to this division. Each officer
is trained in the area of emergency medical aid, firearms, interpersonal
communications, patrol techniques and procedures, domestic violence and
crisis intervention, mental illness, substance abuse, traffic control,
and accident investigations. In addition, Sheriff's deputies are
responsible for the service of civil and criminal process, including subpoenas,
summons, and warrants. The Sheriffs Department also is charged with
the responsibility of administering Sheriff's sales, orders of executions,
and distribution of this funds. The division also oversee deputies assigned
to the S.R.O. (School Resource
Officers), and K-9 programs.
